Downtown Pedestrian Traffic Counts

Annual pedestrian counts conducted in a systematic manner provide benchmarking information on walking activity and related benefits. Count data adds to the understanding of existing pedestrian travel patterns, preferences, and needs. This allows for more strategic planning of future businesses, property owners, and brokers, and provides a means of evaluating the impact of various streetscape improvements, pedestrian safety programs, and public facilities.

Pedestrian count data was collected over a three month period. This includes both weekday and weekend data. The following locations were monitored from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: AT580 Skywalk, Fountain Square, Vine and Court, 4th and Vine 5th and Vine, 7th and Vine, Walnut and Freedom Way E., 4th and Walnut, 6th and Walnut, 4th and Race, 5th and Race, 6th and Main, and 7th and Main.
