Saturdays in the City: What to Do in the Queen City on December 7

Dec 10, 2019

The countdown to Christmas is here! Spend your Saturday relaxing with the kids in Downtown Cincinnati before the holiday hustle and bustle starts this month. On December 7, you’ll be able to ride the Cincinnati Bell Connector for free. Don’t worry about paying for fare – just hop on the streetcar and ride to your next destination.

Start your day off at the Findlay Market Holiday Market. Local artisans and craft vendors set up shop at the Market for a weekend filled with holiday cheer, gift shopping, and seasonal food and drink. The Holiday Market is the best place in town to find the perfect local gift for everyone on your list while enjoying holiday entertainment by local choirs and musicians, food demos and samples. The fun starts at 8 a.m.

After grabbing a bite at one of Findlay Market’s food vendors, head to Rhinegeist for a Hoppy Holiday Ale and a picture with Santa. The Rhinegeist elves have been brewing some tasty beer for mom and dad to enjoy while the kids on the nice list tell Santa what they want for Christmas this year.

Hop back on the streetcar and make your way to the Taft Theatre for the “A Charlie Brown Christmas Play.” The 60-minute play, presented by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, starts at 2 p.m.

Stop at Arnold’s Bar & Grill for a beer and a bite to eat. Share a fried pretzel with pimento cheese and then chow down on a Yo Mama Burger.

Warmed up yet? Walk over to Fountain Square for some ice skating. Come early and stay late – Saturdays at the Square include skating at the UC Health Ice Rink, presented by Fifth Third Bank from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., shopping during the Winter Market at Fountain Square and free photos with Santa at the Carew Tower.

Make sure you’re at the Square by 5:30 p.m. for Downtown Dazzle. See Santa rappel off a Cincinnati skyrise and wait with anticipation for the sky to fill with light thanks to a fabulous Rozzi fireworks display.

Looking for a nightcap? Head to The Banks to bar hop around, and stop for a ride at the SkyStar Wheel. You’ll get a bird’s eye view of the Queen City at night.
